
The Nevis Cultrama 52 officially opened with a ceremony titled Passport to Paradise: The Culturama Connection yesterday Thursday July 23, with a power packed performance by the last year Soca Monarch Power Champions. The opening ceremony of the event was held at the NEDACS Cultural Complex.
During the opening ceremony, attendees experienced the island’s traditional music and dance. The Nevis Culturama Committee also felicitated this year’s patron for Culturama 52 “Bridget Hunkins” for serving the island for decades since 1974. Moreover, the opening ceremony was also attended by the last year’s winners.
This year the theme of the Festival is “Our Heritage, Proud & True: It’s Culturama 52”. The slogan was written by Francina Morton and was selected by the committee through the Culturama 52 slogan competition.
The Bank of Nevis also congratulated the organizer and other members associated with the festival on the occasion of the opening ceremony. The Bank said, “We extend heartfelt congratulations to the Culturama Committee, the contestants, performers, volunteers, sponsors and every individual whose dedication, talent and hard work make Culturama one of the Caribbean’s premier cultural festivals”.
This year the Bank is sponsoring the three major events in the Festival. The Miss Culture Queen Pageant title sponsor, Mr Kool Competition and National Bank Soca Monarch competition. The bank noted, “We are proud to play our part, this year we have made a significant investment in Culturama because this festival is far more than entertainment”.
Moreover, attendees will enjoy a variety of musical performances and entertainment throughout the festival period. The National Bank Soca Monarch finalists will be competing for the crown on July 30 after winning the 18 July semi-finals which were held at the cultural village in Charlestown.

July 25: Dramatic Production, Empire Sports Club Aquatic Extravaganza, Tropixx Fete
July 26: Culturama Track & Field Games, Culturama Poker Run, Republic Bank Mr. & Miss Talented Youth Pageant
July 27: National Bank Panorama, Poets in the Square
July 28: A night of Poetry
July 29: Culturama Bingo, Rhythmz Dance Ensemble
July 30: National Bank Soca Monarch Finals
July 31: Junior Parade, TDC Senior Kaiso Finals
Notably, the Nevis Culturama 52 officially commenced on July 23 and will run until August 4, 2026.
