Renovations Begin at Historic Cardin Home in St. Kitts and Nevis 

The renovations at the Cardin Home will start on July 20, 2026. The rehabilitation of the building has been long since anticipated. The officials from the Ministry of Health have shared that the institution was established in 1927 as The Infirmary. The officials confirmed that the establishment was later renamed in honor of James Derrick Cardin.

The establishment, which has existed the institution, has long stood as a pillar of elder care and support for persons with special needs in St. Kitts and Nevis.

The establishment has been an important part of the St Kitts and Nevis healthcare sector and has served the communities diligently. The renovation will improve the capacity of the establishment to support the sector of the country.

The Ministry of Health has shared that the history of the Cardin Home should be honoured as it is one of the oldest establishments dedicated to healthcare in the country.

For nearly a century, the Cardin Home has embodied compassion and dignity. The establishment has served as a sanctuary for the elderly and vulnerable. The upcoming renovations mark a new chapter in its legacy, ensuring modern facilities and enhanced services for generations to come.

The renovation of one of the older buildings in the country is a milestone for the establishment as well as the healthcare sector of the country. This is part of the government’s upgrades of the healthcare sector of St Kitts and Nevis.
