The funeral service was scheduled for July 9, 2026 and the people of the island paid their final respects to the political leader.
The high level officials of the St Kitts and Nevis government paid their tribute to the politician during Lying-in-State and Signing of the Condolence Book in honour of the late Hugh C. Heyliger. The formalities concluded at approximately 2:00 PM on Thursday, July 9, 2026.
The officials have shared that the event was attended by government officials, including the Governor-General of St Kitts and Nevis, Dame Marcella Liburd and Acting Prime Minister Dr. Geoffrey Hanley.
The final tribute was also paid by family, friends, and members of the public visiting to pay their final respects and celebrate his life of dedicated public service.
The Official Funeral Service for the former Deputy Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis was held at 2:00 p.m. at the Wesley Methodist Church, Seaton Street, Basseterre. At the church, the people of the country where the nation will continue to honour and remember his contributions to the development of the Federation.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis was overseas for regional diplomatic duties and as such, he was not able to attend the funeral service. The government organisations shared some images from the Lying-in-State and Signing of the Condolence Book as well as the funeral service.
