Greenhouse Village Nears Completion as Dr. Drew Highlights Push for Food Security
Prime Minister Dr. Terrence Drew visited the Greenhouse Village at Brotherson Estate as part of his tour of the administration’s flagship projects sites. At the site visit, the Prime Minister was accompanied by the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Marine Resources, Samal Duggins.
According to reports, this was the fourth capital project that the Prime Minister visited during his media tour. The Prime Minister Drew shared that the construction of the Greenhouse village project is nearing completion. He said, “Our Fourth stop today was the Greenhouse Village at Brotherson Estate, and I was delighted with the progress being made as the project enters its final stages”.
The Prime Minister Drew further explained that under the project 24 greenhouse structures are being constructed and every single structure will be fully equipped with modern farming technology and techniques. The Prime Minister said that these fully equipped and modern structures help and support in the production of crash crops including leafy greens and peppers.
Dr. Terence Drew stated that the GreenHouse Village is a key project of the administration to enhance the agriculture sector across the St. Kitts. He said, “This project is an important part of our effort to become more self-sufficient, strengthen food security and create new opportunities within agriculture”.
The Prime Minister also mentioned that the agriculture department is working on climate smart farming measures to support and help the island farmers in improving the production of the crops. Drew stated, “By investing in climate-smart farming, we are helping our farmers produce more consistently, protecting our food supply and ensuring that more of what we consume can be grown right here at home”.
Additionally, the Prime Minister and Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Marine Resources also visited the construction site on May 22, 2026. The Prime Minister Drew also shared the glimpse of the visit online on his official social media handle.
Notably, the Prime Minister continued his tour and visited the Cardin Home Rehabilitation, St. Peter’s Housing, and Basseterre Desalination Plant projects sites.
