SKNDF Cadet Corps Cadet Huggins Serves as Sergeant at Arms at National Youth Parliament Sitting
The St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force Cadet Corps, Cadet Huggins E served as the Sergeant at Arms at the St. Kitts National Youth Parliament Association sitting. The sitting took place on Thursday 7 May 2026 at the National Assembly Chambers in Basseterre.
His job role was based on Westminster Parliament, which is a UK based parliamentary system and used in many Commonwealth countries. Huggins was entrusted with the responsibility of maintaining law and order in the chamber and during the sitting he was to assist the presiding officer. He even had to ensure the smooth conduct of proceedings and keep the dignity and decorum of the House.
According to sources, he carried out his duties with outstanding professionalism and discipline all the time at the session. The meeting was focused on the “ A SKNYPA Resolution Advocating for Reparatory Justice: A Youth Call For Decisive Action”.
In the Chamber the topic was proposed by the young people from the island asking for respiratory justice, as this will provide a second opportunity in compensation for those who were connected to slavery and colonial history.
The St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force Cadet Corps also expressed their pride as Cadet Huggins represented the organisation with excellence. The organisation also mentioned that his participation highlights the island young generations are confident, intelligent and engaged in meaningful debates on issues of national and historical importance.
According to St. Kitts Nevis Defence Force Cadet Corps, their participation in such initiatives like National Youth Parliament reflects their commitment towards the development of youth in making good leaders. They stated they not just focus on military training and discipline but they also prepare them for nation building.
The SKNDF Cadet Crops also congratulated all the participants who took part in the sitting. They even praised the efforts of St. Kitts National Youth Parliament Association for providing an opportunity to young nation’s future leaders of the islands.
Moreover they said that the following initiative will help the island development overall as it is directly connected with the island youth which are future building pillars of the country by giving a platform to raise their voice on any nation issues.
