JaHair Salon from St. Kitts and Nevis won two awards at the World Natural Hair, Health & Beauty Show in Atlanta on 18 and 19 April, 2026.
The salon secured first place in “Crowned by Culture” worn by Necola Samuel, who wore her 2024 winning piece continuing her winning legacy. The Salon also secured 2nd palace in “Crowned by Nature” worn by Sherquana Jeffers, showcasing Caribbean craftsmanship on a global stage.
JaHair Salon said they used all hair handmade, even details in the piece were hand braided. The team described the event as more than a competition, calling it an opportunity to showcase the culture, creativity, and excellence of the twin islands on a global stage.
This year the theme of the World Natural Hair, Health &Beauty Show is “Elevate”. The theme was reflecting the evolution of beauty over time in beauty, education, and community within the natural hair movement.
Denzil Douglas, Minister of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, Industry, Commerce and Consumer Affairs, Economic Development and investment congratulated JaHair Salon on their achievement at the international event.
Taliah Waajis who is also known as “The Queen Of Natural Hair” founded and organised the World Natural Hair, Health &Beauty Show. She established the event 25 years ago to start a platform for chemical free hair education.
The purpose of the event is made around three core pillars: Education, Empowerment, and Celebration. Additionally, the twin islands public were happy and congratulated them in social media for their remarkable win in the event.
One user named Terrance Charles mentioned “Congratulations to my SKN family” and one user named Madeleine Francis praised the hard work of the girls she said “Congratulations, hard work plays off”.
