SKTA, NTA Strengthen Partnership, Position Federation as Unified Luxury Destination
St Kitts Tourism Authority (SKTA) and Nevis tourism authority (NTA) came together for a joint meeting. The leaders of the two organizations are working towards strengthening their strategic partnership.
The overall aim of the organisation is to position the twin-island Federation as a unified, competitive luxury destination.
The collaborative approach highlights that the Tourism sector of the federation is aiming for sustainable growth, crisis preparedness. By working together, SKTA and NTA can also work towards market diversification to navigate a global travel landscape.
Currently, the international tourism sector is increasingly disrupted by geopolitical instability. The situation in the middle east, particularly in Iran is being seen as a significant disrupter of tourism flows.
The experts believe that Geopolitical instability is redirecting global demand away from high-risk areas toward perceived safer destinations. In this regard, the Caribbean destinations can take advantage of their lack of proximity from the centers of conflict within the middle east.
The tourism industry is not witnessing a total decline within the tourism arrivals. Instead, the industry is seeing a significant redistribution of travel flows toward stable jurisdictions despite the travel industry’s reaction to gas prices and tight jet fuel supplies, which are driving up costs globally.
Kelly Fontenelle, the CEO of the St. Kitts Tourism Authority has asserted that the meeting was productive. She was delighted to have met with the tourism partners from Nevis along with stakeholders from the tourism sector.
The meeting was also attended by stakeholders from the NEMA who spoke about hurricane preparedness. CEO Fontenelle said, “I was happy to see the CEO for Nevis in the house with us. We’ve been having conversation, have been more together, more collaborating, because at the end of the day, St. Kitts and Nevis sounds better than just St. Kitts and Nevis.
She also asserted that the partnership has added value to our clients. This is one of the things that we have over a lot of the Caribbean islands. You have two destinations to experience on one trip.
As such the authorities are working to collaborate a little bit more with the hotel partners, things to do, and Nevis is very much on board to work together.
The joint session between the tourism authorities and local hoteliers marks a transition from separate identities to a singular, competitivemarket.
