There have been recent musings in the world of Cricket about a proposed Two Tier table for test Cricket starting in 2027.

Reports have stated that International Cricket Council Chairman, Jay Shah is set to meet with  Cricket Australia counterpart Mike Baird and England and Wales Cricket Board boss Richard Thompson later this month to discuss the proposal of a two tier test system.

Under this system, India, Australia, England, New Zealand and South Africa will make up the top tier .
The West Indies , Bangladesh, Afghanistan and Zimbabwe will fall into the second.

Speaking on this recent development President of the St.Kitts Cricket association Dennis Phillip said while nothing has been set in stone, the rippling effects if approved can have a negative effect on the smaller test playing nations..

Among the questions Mr. Phillip has is how can a team in the second tier be promoted to tier one.

And while some may say the West Indies team may not be amongst world’s best based on their performances, Mr. Phillip has suggestions that he believes can get us back to being amongst the elite in Cricket’s longest format.

2028 will be the centenary celebrations of West Indies becoming a test nation and while Mr. Philip does not the proposal good for cricket, he believes it does give the West Indies time to change their fortunes in Test Cricket and be in a position to be at the top if the tier system come’s to fruition in 2027
