ST. KITTS AND NEVIS NATIONAL DR. ROBERT SPRINGETT EARNS L.L.M. IN COMMERCIAL BUSINESS LAW, PLANS TO MAKE AN IMPACT AT HOME
Dr. Robert Springett, a national of St. Kitts and Nevis, has completed his Master of Laws (L.L.M.) in Commercial Business Law at Manchester Salford University UK.
Dr. Springett, who has led several career colleges in Canada and faith-based universities globally, explained to ZIZ News in an interview that he pursued the degree to better understand business law, particularly in relation to contracts and legislation impacting his professional work.
With a diverse academic background, including degrees in automotive business, theology, and counselling, Dr. Springett found the experience at Manchester Salford enriching. He focused on intellectual property, particularly patents, trademarks, and copyrights, areas he believes will become increasingly important due to advancements in AI and technology.
Dr. Springett intends to use his knowledge to help shape the legal and business landscape in St. Kitts and Nevis, particularly in protecting intellectual property for local entrepreneurs. He stated, “The Caribbean has many creative minds, and they need to understand their concepts are their property, protected by legal rights.”
While the hybrid nature of the program required frequent travel between Canada and the UK, Dr. Springett remained focused on his goal, overcoming challenges with determination. He encourages young people in St. Kitts and Nevis to prioritize their education and use their time wisely.
Dr. Springett’s formal graduation ceremony will take place on July 7, 2025, in Manchester, where he and his family will celebrate his achievement. He has already received his degree with Award Merit.
