St Kitts and Nevis is celebrating Black history Month and honoring the legends who have been crucial for the history of the nation and the world. The nation has been paying tribute to the people who make up the history of the island nation.

The Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas has been sharing the stories of the nation as it has grown after independence in the year 1984.

Dr Douglas has shared how as the longest serving Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, his Administration has changed the nation. He also paid tributes to the former leaders and officers who have served the nation in various capacities.

The chief among these heroes and leaders who were recognised as part of the Black History Month included Robert L Bradshaw at the top of the list.

The Deputy Prime Minister of St Kitts, Dr Geoffrey Hanley also took the time to celebrate Black History Month. He shared a post on his social media and congratulated the nation as they commemorate the month. In recognition of Black History Month, Geoffrey Hanley, Deputy Prime Minister, invited the constituents of East Basseterre who have taken photographs in Black History Month attire to submit their images.

These images, according to the East Basseterre Parliamentary Representative, will be used for inclusion in a commemorative photo album and slideshow. This photo album and slideshow will be shared at the end of the month across various social media platforms.

According to Dr Geoffrey Hanley, This project aims to celebrate the nation’s shared heritage, culture, and contributions. Dr Hanley has confirmed that that participation is entirely voluntary.

Photos should be submitted no later than Friday, 20 February, 2026, or to a WhatsApp contact shared by the Prime Minister.

As the month progresses, St Kitts and Nevis leaders and nationals are expected to see more events and commemorations regarding the Black History Month. The nation and its leaders have been expressing pride in their history and culture.
