Denzil Douglas meets Ambassador Marie-Noëlle Duris for courtesy call

Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas received a courtesy call from the Ambassador of France to St Kitts and Nevis, Marie-Noëlle Duris. The newly appointed ambassador started her tenure as the ambassador with the presentation of her credentials.

The Ambassador is on her first official visit to the twin island federation of St Kitts and Nevis as she begins work on behalf of France. The Ambassador of France to St Kitts and Nevis met with Prime Minister and Dr Terrance Drew on January 22. 

On the same day, Ambassador Duris is expected to have met with the governor general of the country and presented her credentials. After meeting both the high level leaders, Ambassador Duris promised to uphold the longstanding relations between the two nations. The ambassador reiterated the same commitment to the Minister of Foreign Affairs. 

With the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Dr Denzil Douglas, Ambassador Duris acknowledged the relationship that the two nations share for more than four decades. 

France  was one of the first nations in the world to extend diplomatic ties to the twin island federation and the relationship was formalized on September 20, 1983. In honoring this decades long relationship, Marie-Noëlle Duris pledged to continue France’s support to the island nation across the diplomatic forums across the globe. 

During this meeting, Dr Douglas and Marie-Noëlle also discussed future prospects of collaboration. The areas which were under this deliberation included the climate-related priorities and wider  sustainable development objectives. The ambassador also reiterated her commitment to human rights, democracy, multilateralism, and international law.

The officials have shared that the members of the community for the betterment of the people of the country. The officials have also noted that the two nations have come to work together in areas of shared interests for decades. The meeting ended with the hope of continued growth and support bilaterally. 

The Minister of Foreign Affairs also presented a hamper to Ambassador Duris to mark her first official visit to the island as the ambassador.
