PM Terrance Drew meets Trinidad and Tobago PM Kamla Persad Bissessar as CARICOM head

Prime Minister Terrance Drew, continued his high-level bilateral engagements with the leadership of the Caribbean. The Prime Minister held constructive talks with the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago, Kamla Persad-Bissessar on Friday January 30.

The officials have shared that the meeting forms part of Dr Drew’s series of interactions with the leaders of the Caribbean Community. The meetings serve as a precursor to the 50th CARICOM Heads of Government Conference to be hosted in St. Kitts and Nevis.

The meeting will be hosted in Basseterre from February 24–27. Prior to the meeting, the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis will be visiting more nations across the Caribbean.

The officials have shared that the meetings will help the leadership in discussing the various issues of regional importance. The issues which will be discussed during this day will be, strengthening cooperation within CARICOM, advancing shared development idea.

The officials want to reinforce the value of deeper regional integration and coordinated policy action.

The Prime Ministers of St Kitts and Nevis and Trinidad and Tobago underscored the importance of continued and respectful dialogue and collaboration Prime Minister Drew and his team also visited the national Parliament, and further toured the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ) as part of the official program.

The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis was also accompanied by the Secretary General of the Caribbean Community. The officials have shared that the engagements will continue with other members of the Caribbean Community.

The leaders have shared that it is important for the people of the island to make sure that the region can work together. Previously, Dr Drew visited the Prime Minister of St Vincent and the Grenadines and Antigua and Barbuda.
