Dr Terrance Drew, Dame Liburd bid farewell to outgoing Indian High Comissioner
Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew received the High Commissioner of India to St Kitts and Nevis for a courtesy call before he concluded his assignment and duties within the island. HC Amit Telang started his tenure as the high Commissioner of India to St Kitts and Nevis in November 2023.
He presented his credentials to the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis on January 31, 2024. In addition to serving as the High Commissioner of St Kitts and Nevis, he also serves in the same position for Guyana.
Telang resides in Georgetown Guyana and has served as commissioner to Guyana since October 2023. On January 23, the High Commissioner made his farewell courtesy calls to the leadership of St Kitts and Nevis.
In effect, Telang served as the High Commissioner of St Kitts and Nevis for 27 months. During his tenure as a representative of the Republic of India to St Kitts and Nevis, he served as a link between the two nations.
The partnership between St Kitts and Nevis and India has seen significant growth during the last two years.
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis has shared that he was grateful to High Commissioner Telang for his work for the strengthening of the diplomatic relations between the two nations. The High Commissioner of India, in his farewell courtesy call, the high Commissioner of india was accompanied by his wife.
Prior to meeting with the Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, High Commissioner extended a farewell courtesy call to the Governor General of St Kitts and Nevis, Dame Marcella Liburd. The governor received the whole delegation accompanying the High Commissioner at the Government House.
The Governor General also thanked the high commissioner for his service to the nation as he concludes his tenure in St Kitts and Nevis. The High Commissioner’s entourage presented the Governor general with gifts momentos from India to signify the strength of their relationship with one another.
