Samal Duggins expresses pride as Kim Collins Athletic Stadium becomes venue for track and field event
The Minister of Sports Samal Duggins has expressed his pride in the fact that the newly renovated Kim Collins Athletic Stadium. The officials have shared that the members of the community will be able to use the rehabilitated facility for youth promotional events.
The facility has faced years of neglect under the former Team Unity Government with nearly seven years of no rehabilitation on the community stadium. Minister of Sports in the St. Kitts-Nevis Labour Party Government, Samal Duggins has shared that they are elated to see events being hosted at the stadium.
The renovated and finished Kim Collins Athletic Stadium was venue for the that the Bank of Nevis Basseterre Zone Public Primary School Championships. The Minister took to his social media to share his pride and appreciate for the fact that the community can utilise the facility once more.
In his social media post, he spoke of the neglect that the facility faced for years and how proud he is that the track and field is getting a boost once again in St Kitts. The Minister also noted that this has been made possible with the investment and vision of the department of sport.
Samal Duggins has shared that he and his team at the department of Sports is proud to have delivered on this promise. The department is restoring national infrastructure, creating opportunity for our young athletes, and rebuilding pride in the sporting community of the country.
He paused the Stadium for being world class and providing top of the line facilities to the people of the island nation.
Duggins further said in his social media post that “This is a clear testament to the St. Kitts and Nevis Labour Party-led administration’s commitment to youth development, sport, and national pride.”
“We said we would deliver and today, the results speak for themselves,”.
The Minister has worked diligently to upgrade the facilities for the nation’s sporting venues.
