PM Terrance Drew delivers New Year’s Address, calls for Unity, Resilience and Purpose
The Prime Minister of St Kitts and Nevis, Dr Terrance Drew delivered the New Year’s address marking the beginning 2026. The Prime Minister started his new year with gratitude for the successes that the nation saw in the previous year.
He highlighted that the prevcious year was not without its struggles, which at times tested the nation’s resilience. However, the times of struggle also remined the people of the country about the core of their community.
The Prime Minister has appreciated the people of St Kitts and Nevis for their show of strength and resilience. Talking to the people who work tirelessly for the growth of the nation, including artisans, workers, civil servants, teachers, farmers and more, he said: You are the heartbeat of this nation.
He said that, “Your daily efforts often go unseen, but they never go unvalued.”
He also acknowledged the people living in diaspora are also part of the story of St Kitts and Nevis.
Talking to the people living inn the diaspora, PM Terrance Drew said, Your connection to home continues to enrich us in countless ways.
PM Drew invited the people of the island to step into the new year with dreams and hopes. At the same time, he urged them to remember that lasting progress is not a swift action.
The Prime Minister said that “My commitment is simple and sincere, to continue working in partnership with you, listening, learning and leading with humility and resolve. He added that the work of nation building belongs to all of us and together we will continue to power progress in ways that uplift lives and strengthen our future.
Dr Drew extended best wishes for progress to be the driving force of the nation in the year 2026. He said that as the nation steps into the new year, we must learn that progress is not only about growth but about care, or about ambition, but about responsibility.
