Ajernee Hodge, fifteen year old resident of Nevis has been selected as the Newest UNICEF Youth Ambassador. The girl has been described as a highly passionate champion for the rights of the children.
She has been raising her voice against discrimination, advocated inclusion and fights for children who need support. With her experience of living Nevis serving as a driving force, Ms Hodge has been working with organizations to make sure that all the people who are left behind or ignored in any situations can also come forward.
The officials have shared that it is important for the people of the country to make sure that all the people are given the opportunity to fight for their rights and opportunities. The officials have shared that it is crucial for the leadership and international organizations to make sure to acknowledge the work of youngsters in this direction.
The UNICEF has appreciated Ajernee Hodge for encouraging more children into pursuing the non traditional fields of study such as Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The officials have shared that Hodge has been working with Technovation Nevis Girls Chapter in the field of youth health.
She has also been working with the Nevis Ministry of Education in their Student Ambassador Programme. Hodge is also a child rights ambassador who has been a powerful voice for child rights in the country.
According to the UNICEF representatives, the girl was the youngest speaker at the UNICEF’s 2025 Menstrual Hygiene Day panel. She has also served as a representative of the XVI Regional Conference on Women in Latin America and the Caribbean.
The work that Hodge has done for the young girls of the Caribbean has been remarkable. She has been working with partners and stakeholders to advocate for the upliftment of the young girls.
One of her most important initiatives to highlight the undue burden of care on young adolescent girls. She said that there is an urgent need to address the issue.
